Across the nation, Scholarship America's programs -- including Dollars for Scholars -- have awarded $2.5 billion to nearly 2 million students since its founding 50 years ago.

The impact of Aplington-Parkersburg Dollars for Scholars has also been significant in the education of our young people.  In the mid-1980s Parkersburg Dollars for Scholars began and awarded a total of $1,500 to a handful of high school seniors. Then in the early 1990s, with the merger of the Aplington and Parkersburg school districts, we became Aplington-Parkersburg Dollars for Scholars and continued the pursuit to help support our students.

Today our Dollars for Scholars program has awarded scholarships in excess of $170,000 each year to high school seniors and post-graduates. Aplington-Parkersburg Dollars for Scholars strives to meet the challenges of higher education for our students. With the support of our communities, through business and personal donations, and with the support of the alums of Aplington, Parkersburg and now Aplington-Parkersburg we will continue to grow, strengthen and provide an ever growing source of assistance to our graduates. 

 

Because of YOU:

* In 2023 we were able to award $89,595 to seniors & $84,124 to our post-graduates

* We are one of a few chapters able to award scholarships to post-graduates

* Students have seven years to use awarded funds

* Donated land is leased yearly for continued investment

* Our financial portfolio includes CD's, money market accounts, and Franklin Income Funds
